Security deposit
Renter will be required to provide a security deposit to Owner of at least 500 Pounds (“Security Deposit”) to be used in the event of loss or damage to the Rental Vehicle during the term of this agreement. Owner may, in lieu of collection of a security deposit, place a hold on a credit card in the same amount. In the event of damage to the Rental Vehicle, Owner will apply this Security Deposit to defray the costs of necessary repairs or replacement. If the cost for repair or replacement of damage to the Rental Vehicle exceeds the amount of the Security Deposit, Renter will be responsible for payment to the Owner of the balance of this cost. In the event of a car accident, where the Rentee is at fault. The vehicle must be taken to the owners mechanic as soon as possible. The rentee must also pay between £1000 and £2000 excess(depending on car/damage) straight away. Every day that the car is off the road during repair, has to be covered by rentee at a daily rate. Deposit is not used to cover the cost of Parking tickets or any fines that may occur during the rental term. If payment for extension is not sent on time, calls and texts will be sent if no reply within 2 hours, car will be immobilised.
Insurance
STR8 Rentals must provide the renter with the necessary insurance to drive the vehicle. If the Rental Vehicle is damaged or destroyed while it is in the possession of Renter, the Renter agrees for the car is to be fixed privately, avoiding insurance where possible at all times. Damage is to be assessed by owner and quotations shall be sent to renter. Damages should be paid immediately, deducting deposit.
Indemnification
Renter agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Owner for any loss, damage, or legal actions against Owner as a result of Renter’s operation or use of the Rented Vehicle during the term of this Car Rental Agreement. This includes any attorney fees necessarily incurred for these purposes. Renter will also pay for any parking tickets, moving violations, or other citations received while in possession of the Rented Vehicle.
Tickets & Fines
If the client fails to resolve any Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) or similar fines issued directly on the vehicle (e.g., tickets placed on the car) prior to their formal issuance by post, the liability for such penalties will be transferred to the client. A £25 administration fee will apply for each instance.
For all penalties not issued directly on the vehicle—such as speeding fines, red light camera violations, and other similar infractions—a £25 administration fee will also be charged for each instance.
The renter is responsible for paying any congestion charges incurred during the rental period. Payment for the congestion charge must be made to Str8 Rentals via bank transfer or cash, due to automatic payment (Autopay) processes in place. The payment must be settled within 24 hours of receiving notice of the charge.
Representations and warranties
Owner represents and warrants that to Owner’s knowledge, the Rental Vehicle is in good condition and is safe for ordinary operation of the vehicle.
Renter represents and warrants that Renter is legally entitled to operate a motor vehicle under the laws of this jurisdiction and will not operate it in violation of any laws, or in any negligent or illegal manner.
Renter has been given an opportunity to examine the Rental Vehicle in advance of taking possession of it, and upon such inspection, is not aware of any damage existing on the vehicle other than that notated by separate Existing Damage document.
Jurisdiction and venue
In the event of any dispute over this agreement, this Car Rental Agreement will be interpreted by the laws of United Kingdom, and any lawsuit or arbitration must be brought in the corresponding region of United Kingdom. If any portion of this agreement is found to be unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of the agreement would still have full force and effect.
Damage and Repairs Policy
Alloy Damage:
A £150 charge will be applied for each scratched or damaged alloy.
Accidents & Incidents:
In the event of an incident, no claims are to be made through insurance. Any damage incurred must be paid for privately and all repairs must be conducted exclusively by STR8 Rentals' appointed mechanic. No external repairs are permitted.
Warning Lights:
If any warning lights appear on the dashboard during the rental period, you are required to notify STR8 Rentals immediately by providing a picture of the dashboard.
Speeding:
We discourage all client's from speeding in our vehicles. If a client is found to be speeding excessively beyond the speed limit, they risk forfeiting the total of their deposit. Each client is given up to 3 warnings, after the third warning the clients deposit is taken.
Vehicle Return Condition
All clients are required to return the vehicle in the same clean condition, both internally and externally, as it was provided. Failure to do so will result in a £50 cleaning fee, which will be deducted from the deposit.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. Should a client be found smoking, or if the vehicle is returned with any evidence of smoking, a £200 charge will be deducted from the deposit.
